During Food Fest, it really felt like traveling abroad without even leaving the city! I had so many amazing adventures: a food walk, a Peruvian cooking class, a wine tasting, and dinners at spots I'd never visited before. On the food walk through Kville, I discovered delicious food from the Balkans, Asia, the Middle East, and South America all within just a few blocks—a part of my own city I never knew existed! And on the veranda of Lilla Änggården, I got to taste historical dishes prepared with a modern twist and lovely local ingredients.
At the causa workshop, Luisa Garcia taught us how to whip up the dish while sharing her own beautiful story of food, migration, and identity. I cooked the causa, I ate it, and the flavor came alive with a whole new meaning! During dinner at Bulot, Lydia Sandgren and Ola Sigurdson shared stories about the everyday and festive spirit of Gothenburg. But what stayed with me just as much as the delicious flavors were the conversations—both with the other participants and the wonderful hosts. It's not often your own hometown surprises you in such a delightful way!
